On January 19, 1946, Dolly Rebecca Parton was born into a humble family in a one-room cabin in the Smoky Mountains of Sevierville, Tennessee. She was the fourth of twelve children, and her parents, Avie Lee and Robert Lee Parton, struggled to make ends meet as sharecroppers.
