On January 19, 1946, Dolly Rebecca Parton was born into a humble family in a one-room cabin in the Smoky Mountains of Sevierville, Tennessee. She was the fourth of twelve children, and her parents, Avie Lee and Robert Lee Parton, struggled to make ends meet as sharecroppers.
Despite their financial challenges, Dolly's childhood was filled with love, music, and storytelling. Her mother had a beautiful singing voice, and her father played the guitar and wrote songs. Dolly inherited their musical talents, and from a young age, she began writing and performing her own songs.

She went on to star in numerous other films, including "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," "Steel Magnolias," and "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous."
Dolly's acting skills have been widely recognized, and she has been nominated for two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and two British Academy Film Awards.
A Heart of Gold and Giving Back
Throughout her career, Dolly has been a dedicated philanthropist, using her wealth and platform to make a difference in the lives of others. In 1988, she founded the Dollywood Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides educational and recreational opportunities for children in her hometown of Sevierville, Tennessee.
Dolly's philanthropic efforts have also extended to disaster relief, literacy programs, animal welfare, and health research. She has donated millions of dollars to various charities and has been recognized for her generosity with numerous awards, including the Andrew Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy.
